Galapagos in a wheelchair (3 of 4)
Boat ride to Cerro Brujo
Day begins early with a morning transfer to local peer at San Cristobal. While at the peer, if lucky we will have sealions joining us as we trasnfer you to local boat taxis at peer. You are safely transfer into small boats, where you remain in your wheelchair. We will head towards our boat harbor in the bay. Once at the boat, we will safely transfer you to the boat deck. Once at the deck, you have time to organize yourself, put away your gear (snorkel, mask, fins), apply one more layer of sun screan, get your music ready and admire the view as we start heading out of Puerto Baquerizo bay.
As we leave the bay, our naturalist guide will give you a warm welcome explaining the activities and locations we will visit during the day. As the boat starts traveling, we will cross the lava rocks on shore, admiring blue footed boobies and pelicans. Our boat crew will make sure we have jugs of ice tea, coffee and fruit at your disposal. The ride on the boat goes slow, as the idea is to admire the magic of the ocean, why not sometimes we can spot dolphins and/or spotted rays joining our tour. It is nature, so each time is a different view and a different experience.
As we continue our ride, we will start seeing two big formations on the horizon. One is Kicker Rock and the other one is Cerro Brujo. We will set course towards Cerro Brujo. After approx 2 hours of boat riding, we arrive to this white-thin sand beach. We will have a wet disembark, which means, we will use our beach floatable chairs, to get you very close to the beach.
Beach time
Once we safely take you to the beach, a new adventure begins as we will go through this very thin sand beach, observing how blue footed boobies, brown pelicans dive over and over right in front of us in search of fish. As the walk at the beach continues we will observe the brown noddy tern lying in the rocks, curious with your visit. As the beack walk continues, we will go into the cristal clear waters to have a picture taken as well as to simply enjoy, capture the moment. We will be transfered into the boat once again to start heading towards Kicker Rock.
Snorkel time at hot spot in Galapagos
This is the perfect time to enjoy a tasty lunch. Kicker rock is an ancient and eroded volcanic lava tuff cone. It is formed by two rocks approximately 150 meters/485 feet tall. Between the 2 rocks there is a canal exceptional for swimming, taking pictures, scuba diving and snorkeling.
As we approach this rock formation, you will be amazed by the beauty and impressive shape of the rocks. We will start getting our gear on. We will assist you to get your wet-suit on, try the mask, fins, etc.
In and out of water
The disembark to the location is done by accessing a flat platform at the back end of the boat. We will provide safety jackets, floating rings and one to one assistance once inside the water. The main idea is to feel safe, so you can fully enjoy the experience.
Once inside the water, we start swiming next to the rock formation. On an average day you can spot sea turtles, galapagos sharks, white tipped reef sharks, soft corals attached to the wll, spongies of various colors (red, blue, yellow), Orange cup corals, sea urgins, big school of salamas, mexican hog fish, yellow tail surgeonfish, rainbow wras fish, King angelfish among many others……Simply one of the best experiences…….
As you come out of the water thinking you have seen it all, you will be totally amazed by the birds flying around the rocks. You will observe frigate birds, nazca boobies, blue footed boobies, tropic red beak birds and shear waters.
Once out of the water, you will get dry, eat fruit and a snack, maybe a coffee to regain body temperatura, and start heading back to town. This is simply one of the best experiences you can have on a day tour at GALAPAGOS. Arrive to town around 16h30 pm. Transfer to your hotel, rest, and sunset observation at the bay 😊
