Giant Galapagos tourtle

Today your Galapagos accessible tour  will take you to the the high part of the islands. Not everybody is aware that you can reach by car up to 650 meters above sea level at San Cristobal islands. We will admire the change in vegetation, climate and landscape.

As we start going down at the east side of the island we will reach the Gian Tourtle breeding center. This is a semi-natural location where more than 20 giant adult tourtles (females and males) wonder around. We will be able to admire this giant reptiles eating one of their favorite meal.. the “posion apple fruit”. and liquines.

This center was created in order to monitor the population of giant tourtles as well as to study their behaivor and increase the number of the population. You will use our off road chair to be able to visit the Center.

A hike through dry forest

You will continue the adventure by visiting Puerto Chino beach. To reach Puerto Chino we will take a path through dry forest, where you will be introduced to 2 of the 3 kinds of cactus in the islands. The opuntia cactus and the chandelier cactus.

We will admire some representative cactus species as we continue down in the path, observing finch nest, mucking brids on branches, marking sonia ever green plants and lava lizards as we approach the beach.

The beach on a sunny day has turquiose cristal clear water and fine sand. We will have some minutes to enjoy the beach. Our next stop will be a restaurant on the hills, overlooking the beach. We will enjoy organic food as we have stuinning landscape. Return to town.

Kayak through the bay

At around 15h30 we will take you to the beach where top of the notch kayaks will be waiting fo you. We will use our equipment to transfer and secure you safely to the kayaks. In each kayak we will have a guest wtih an experienced kayaker at the back to do the paddling..

Off we go into cristal clear waters in front of the bay. We will go through the different boats and sail boats parked in the harbour and head towards the bay where lava rocks are used by blue footed boobies.  This is probably the closest you can get to enjoy this cute birds.

As we paddle across the bay, in company of playfull sea lions, we will observe some nesting área for Brown pelicans. Certainly along the way we will see blue footed boobies diving from the sky in search of fish 😊.

We will get to places only accessible by kayak, where we will be so close to the lava rocks to observe Brown noodle nesting, swallow tail gull, frigates and why not…marine tortoises on the water.

We will return to the bay at sunset time to finish our kayak experience. Dinner will include tasty sea food 😊. Of course we will have our traditional walk around the boardwalk 😊
